Sustainable Exhibition Stands
Looking to exhibit responsibly without compromising on impact? Team EXPO designs and builds sustainable exhibition stands that are creative, practical, and planet-conscious. From fully recyclable cardboard structures to reusable modular builds, every stand is engineered to minimise waste and maximise your brand presence.
A sustainable exhibition stand is one designed to lower environmental impact across its full lifecycle — using recycled or recyclable materials (such as Re-Board cardboard, FSC-certified timber and aluminium), low-VOC water-based inks, lightweight flat-pack logistics, and planned reuse, refurbishment or recycling at end of life. Expositionists has been designing and building sustainable exhibition stands for over 30 years — including our 100% recyclable EcoStands.Green range from £3,000.
Eco-Friendly Exhibition Stand Design
We help brands exhibit sustainably, using recycled materials in our EcoStands.Green product range, reconfigurable systems, and smarter logistics that reduce your carbon footprint. Every detail is considered, from material sourcing to transport efficiency, to ensure your exhibition strategy supports your sustainability goals.

Our EcoStands are 100% recycled and 100% recyclable exhibition stands, made from durable Re-Board® supplied on an FSC-certified basis by our manufacturer and printed with water-based inks for a waste-free build.

We also design reusable modular stands that can be reconfigured across multiple shows, cutting waste, reducing transport costs, and offering long term return on investment.

Our eco friendly systems are lightweight yet strong, which reduces the carbon impact of shipping and installation while maintaining premium visual quality.
EcoStands.Green: Our 100% Recyclable Cardboard Stand Range
EcoStands.Green is our dedicated range of 100% recycled and 100% recyclable exhibition stands. Manufactured from Re-Board, an engineered cardboard supplied on an FSC-certified basis, every EcoStand is printed using water-based, low-VOC inks for vibrant, high-resolution branding without chemical solvents. Slot-together construction means no tools, glue or mechanical fixings — two people can assemble a 12sqm stand in under an hour. After use, every component recycles through standard commercial cardboard streams — nothing goes to landfill.
How We Build Sustainable Exhibition Stands
Our approach combines responsible materials, efficient production and smart reuse strategies.

Recycled and Recyclable Components
We prioritise materials like Re-Board®, FSC-certified timber options, and aluminium frames, all recyclable or reusable. Our EcoStands cardboard panels are up to 70% lighter than equivalent MDF or timber, dramatically reducing transport carbon and on-site handling. Our printing uses low VOC, water based inks and eco substrates wherever possible.

Minimised Waste, Maximised Efficiency
Our workshops use precision CNC cutting to optimise sheet yield and reduce offcuts. Any surplus board is recycled into new material batches. We also reuse packaging, fixtures and transport containers.

Reduced Carbon Transport
By designing modular systems that flat pack and reuse across shows, we lower haulage emissions significantly. Our logistics network is UK based for shorter supply routes and smaller carbon footprints.

End of Life With Purpose
At the end of a stand’s life, every element is separated for recycling or reuse. Boards become new sheets, metal frames are re fabricated, and graphics are repurposed or donated.
Our Sustainability Commitments
We design for circularity and operate for lower impact. Here are the practical measures behind our promises.
Material transparency
Recycled cardboard boards, FSC certified options via our manufacturer, and aluminium systems designed for repeat use.
Water based inks
Eco print processes with low VOC, water based inks and recyclable substrates.
Lightweight logistics
Flat pack, modular designs reduce transport weight and associated emissions.
Reuse, re skin, reconfigure
Built for multiple shows with simple panel swaps and footprint changes.
End of life separation
Clear separation of materials for recycling or responsible disposal.
Season long planning
Calendar based design that reduces waste across an entire programme of events.
Reuse, Storage and Refurbishment
We plan your stand for multiple shows from day one. After each event, we can store your structure, re skin graphics, repair wear and tear, and reconfigure layouts for the next calendar. This keeps waste low and presentation high.
- Secure storage between shows
- Panel re skins and print refresh
- Component repair and refurbishment
- Modular reconfiguration for new footprints
Ask us about a season long plan for your shows.

Sustainable Exhibition Stands – FAQs
Sustainable stands are designed to lower environmental impact across their lifecycle. We use responsible materials such as recycled board, aluminium and FSC certified timber options, low waste production, flat pack logistics to cut transport emissions, and planned reuse or recycling at end of life. Our EcoStands are made from 100% recycled cardboard and are 100% recyclable after use.
EcoStands.Green cardboard stands start from approximately £3,000 for a 6–9sqm configuration. A 12–20sqm EcoStand typically runs £5,000–£10,000. Modular aluminium systems start from around £5,000 for a 12sqm build. Custom sustainable builds for 20sqm+ are quoted on brief. All prices include design, build, delivery and installation, with storage and refurbishment available as an add-on.
Yes. Engineered board structures like Re-Board® are strong when correctly designed. We specify panel thicknesses, load paths and fixings appropriate to your kit. We work to venue requirements for fire performance and can provide material data sheets if required.
Absolutely. We design for reuse as standard. EcoStands.Green cardboard stands can typically be reused 2–3 times before recycling, with graphics re-skinned between events. Modular aluminium frames reconfigure for new footprints across 10+ builds. Ask about our storage and refurbishment service between shows.
We prioritise low VOC, water based inks and recyclable substrates. Graphics are set up for easy removal so panels can be separated for recycling or swapped for new campaigns without binning the structure.
Not necessarily. Upfront costs can be comparable. Savings usually come from reuse, lower storage and haulage, faster builds and re skins instead of rebuilds. Over a season of shows, total cost of ownership is typically lower.
Yes. We can provide material specifications, weight data, sourcing certifications (FSC, ESSA), and indicative carbon impact information for each project. This supports CSR, ESG and procurement reporting requirements. We design to reduce weight, optimise packing, and plan reusability to cut transport and material emissions.
We regularly deliver to major UK venues such as ExCeL, NEC and Olympia, and across Europe and the US. Our project managers handle regulations, forms and on site logistics. See the full list in the “Where We Build Sustainable Exhibition Stands” section above.
Typical lead times are 3 to 6 weeks from brief to install, depending on complexity, venue approvals and print schedules. EcoStands.Green cardboard builds can often turn around in 3–4 weeks. If your show is sooner, speak to us and we will explore options with in stock systems.
Everything that matters. Footprint, height lines, cladding, finishes, lighting, AV, storage, product displays and meeting zones. Sustainable does not mean generic. See our recyclable stand case studies.
Send us your show name, dates, stand size and objectives. We will propose layouts and visuals aligned to your brand and recommend the most sustainable route. You can also explore Eco Exhibition Stand options in our shop.
