ASK QUESTIONS

As an exhibitor you need to know everything about the event you're attending, from what size your stand can be to who else is there. Questions are always helpful in this situation.

Ask away. The relevant people will be able to provide you with lots of information, helpful for this and future events. You can never ask too many questions.

Calculate

Costs, time and opportunities. All these aspects are crucial when exhibiting. Calculating them helps to ease the whole process and if you keep tabs on how much you're spending, who's spending time where and what leads you're receiving, you can review the exhibition to analyse your results. There's no point in spending most of your budget on the stand space, only to be left with not enough money to create a great stand.

Think about what budget you have and allocate amounts to the stand space, building the stand and also to other costs such as giveaways and pre and post communications.

Don't forget travel and hotel costs too.

DIARIES & ORGANISERS

Speaking of leads, having a diary or organiser to hand can result in sales on the day. If you're able to book someone in right there and then, it's an immediate result. Diaries can be physical or stored on computers/laptops/tablets.

We also recommend booking appointments in advance. Contact people who you know will be at the event and get them to visit your stand, making the most of your day.

ENGAGE

Exhibitors use events to gain exposure and develop relationships. Be engaging with your audience, involve them in the conversation and be sure to give the conversation a purpose.

Even if they don't book an appointment on the day, if you're engaging and positive they'll remember you.

FLOOR PLAN

You can access these through the website or sometimes they're sent out in preparation for the event.

Try to secure a spot that has a good flow of people. Keep in mind where your competitors are as well and note down some businesses you'd like to visit yourself to start a conversation.

Make it eye catching, make it unique and most importantly make sure it fits your business and it's theme.

KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

Ensure that all your team know who they're targeting.

Yes it's great to catch up with old friends and businesses but you're there for leads. Be sure to engage in conversations with your target audience and quickly identify who are the hottest prospects.

This is another opportunity to book in advance. If you know someone who is at the event that would be a key target, invite them for a chat and who knows, you might get an important sale out of it.

Of course you are there to gain leads and make sales but you're also there to learn.
